Why the book?

"I'm not done yet, I'm going to write a book,"
I said to my partner Deborah
Wray.

At the time, it was challenging to find a book with a good storyline. I thought about my experience as a solicitor in the foreign currency loans debacle that occurred in Australia in the 1980’s and 1990’s. Some of the shenanigans of the banks were an eye-opener to say the least. I resolved it was a story that needed to be told.

My next consideration was the hero? I wanted an everyday person with an ethical compass, one who knows the difference between right and wrong, and whose life is not broken? Enter Tom Mortimer; a corporate hero who is physically and mentally strong and a good family man with ethics.

Finally, the backdrop to Tom Mortimer Pitt Street Bankers. What better than a re-creation of Australia’s political upheaval and the turbulent events in its financial sector, from the 1960’s to the 1990’s?

Enjoy!

I’m still not done yet. I am currently writing my next Tom Mortimer story...
